The genesis of NIBRT
The Institute started life in 2003/4 when the Irish Government received feedback there was a significant change in the drug pipeline with biologics becoming more pre-eminent, O’Driscoll continued.
“This was particularly pronounced when Wyeth (now Pfizer) invested $2bn investment at its Grange Castle biologics facility.
“As they recruited and trained their personnel the feedback received was there was a need to set up a national institute to ensure a pool of skilled personnel to support this industry and process development. That was the genesis for NIBRT.”
