Millipore is targeting protein manufacturers with a new chromatography resin that, the firm claims, offers flexibility and high throughput with a small manufacturing footprint.
Detection of Mycoplasma contamination in biologics manufacture can be cut from up to 35 days to four hours using Millipore’s MilliPROBE, according to the company.
Separations expert Millipore is collaborating with Rohm and Haas
Company to develop new high-performance chromatography products for
use in biopharmaceutical manufacturing.
In its second acquisition in less than a month, Millipore has
acquired bioprocessing products firm Serologicals for around $1.4bn
(€1bn) in cash, as it tries to boost its growth by expanding in
potentially lucrative market segments.
Millipore has introduced a single-use prefilter for clarification
steps in mammalian cell synthesis that continues the trend towards
increasing use of disposable technologies in the bioprocessing
environment, reports Phil Taylor.
Alfa Laval and Millipore are to work together to supply tools for
the recovery of biopharmaceutical proteins generated by cell
culture and fermentation.
