mRNA pioneer Moderna will establish an Enterprise Solutions Hub in Atlanta: which will host finance, human resources, procurement and digital functions.

The new US facility will complement Moderna’s International Enterprise Solutions Hub in Warsaw, Poland: and will support the US, Canadian and Latin American markets.

It will hire around 150-200 employees over the next two years; with operations set to start in the second quarter of 2022.

Supporting growth

Moderna’s growth comes after its first commercial product – the mRNA COVID-19 vaccine – was authorized in 2020.

It opened the Polish hub in May 2021, and last month announced it would establish a commercial presence in Belgium, Denmark, Norway, the Netherlands, Poland and Sweden.

By the end of the year, it expects to have commercial subsidiaries in 21 countries: including the UK, Italy, France, Germany, Spain, Switzerland, Malaysia, Taiwan, Singapore and Hong Kong.

As well as producing its COVID-19 vaccine on mass, Moderna’s pipeline currently includes 40 development programs, 25 of which are in clinical trials.

"We are pleased to be expanding our footprint after a year of tremendous growth, which underscored the need for business services activities in proximity to skilled talent," said Stéphane Bancel, Chief Executive Officer of Moderna.

"Along with our center in Poland, our Atlanta hub will bring us closer to realizing our vision of building a company with centralized enterprise solutions hubs worldwide. As we build Moderna, we strive to use best business practices, and with Enterprise Hubs on different continents and digital investments, we can scale efficiently. We look forward to engaging with the diverse pool of talent in the Atlanta community."
