At the BIA’s annual conference, industry executives discussed the UK’s position as a leader in bioprocessing and what steps must be taken to keep pace with global innovation.

There was a particular focus on digital innovation, with a large part of the conference dedicated to the ways in which Industry 4.0 technologies could be applied to improve manufacturing.

More specifically, Steve Bates, CEO of BIA, spoke on the UK landscape. Addressing the challenges of the current climate, where companies have to face both Brexit and an election, Bates described how discussions regarding the life sciences industry were on hold until after the election.
