Construction of JHL's GE fitted facility, Wuhan, China
The entire facility was constructed in just over one year, which the firm says is a significant time saving compared with more traditional approaches. This outcome was enabled by GE’s modular factory concept, KUBio – a solution that delivers fully functional facilities in 14 to 18 months.
The biomanufacturing modules for the JHL KUBio facility in Wuhan were manufactured in Germany, after which they were shipped to and assembled in China.
“While the KUBio modules are being prepared in Germany, local preparation around the site in China is happening. Once that parallel activity comes to a head, the modules are delivered to China, offloaded, and then reconstructed into a biomanufacturing site, driving valuable time-savings and accelerating JHL’s ability to be in production,” explained Pence.
