Overseas training
There are other government funded institutes, such as the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*Star) in Singapore and a new $64m biologics manufacturing institute in the UK but NIBRT is unique in its remit to focus on the training and the research side of the industry, O'Driscoll said.
Furthermore, the Centre has worked with a number of regulators for their training needs including the Irish Medicines Board and the Saudi Arabian FDA and is also expanding its overseas programme.
Amgen, for example, has brought over people from the US and Puerto Rico whilst an online training programme led by NIBRT is currently underway for a company's workforce in Australia.
