Lab service provider VWR is moving into the industry of single-use bioprocessing with the acquisitions of Integra Companies and STI Components.

Massachusetts-based Integra Companies provides single use connectivity solutions including tubing, hoses and gaskets for high-purity environments for biopharma companies.  Integra is ISO9001 certified and operates two ISO Class 7 clean rooms.

North Carolina-based STI Components, meanwhile, offers high-purity fluid handling components and custom engineered solutions in the Southeast US.

"Both of these companies are well-respected for superior service and providing custom solutions to their customers," said Mark McLoughlin, SVP and President, US Lab and Distribution Services. "Acquiring Integra and STI Components will increase our offering of single use disposable products and clean room kitting for our customers. We are pleased to have both teams joining the VWR organization."

Financial details of the acquisitions are confidential.

The acquisitions build upon Pennsylvania-based VWR’s previous acquisitions of AMRESCO, a manufacturer and supplier of biochemicals and reagents, and United Biochemicals, which manufactures and supplies high purity buffers and biochemicals.

The acquisitions come as the company recently went public with IPO of common stock at a price of $21 per share. After deducting underwriting discounts, commissions and other offering costs, the IPO resulted in net proceeds of approximately $502m.
